FakeAV is a malicious software code, also known as a Trojan, which often enters users’ devices without their knowledge. Trojan horses can spread via malicious email attachments and exploits. FaceAV tries to convince the infected computer’s owner to purchase certain security software which will supposedly ensure security and delete all alleged viruses. It bombards users’ screens with irritating ads until the user gives in and buys the software. The purchased software is likely to be dangerous malware.
- Install or update used device protection systems;
- Scan your computer with an anti-virus program;
- Install operating system and application updates;
- Do not click on suspicious links in emails and websites.
