Vulnerable computer systems and applications:
Murofet is a malicious software code, also known as a virus. It gets into computers via spam email, or is downloaded by another virus on the device. Murofet resembles a different malware Conficker in the way it operates. The malware does the following on an infected computer:
- Inserts its copies into portable executable Windows operating system files;
- Downloads and installs Trojan.Zbot into the computer;
- Uses Domain Generation Algorithm to make detecting sources of malicious code distribution more difficult.
Recommendations in case of infection:
- Scan the computer with anti-virus software;
- Disable Autorun.
