The Beta Bot is a Trojan horse. Once it infects, it prevents you from visiting anti-virus and other security webpages. Attempts to disable antivirus or anti-malware programs. Steals sensitive information (such as passwords). It may not only be able to spread through e-mail, but also via USB sticks and Skype links.
When it infects a computer, it displays a false Critical Disk Error message and asks you to allow it to run in administrator rights.
- Install operating system and application updates;
- Do not open emails/attachments from unknown senders;
- Use an antivirus program;
- Do not grant any program administrator rights when the UAC window appears, unless you are the one making system changes.
