Description:
Slammer is a malicious software code, also known as a worm, which often enters users’ devices without their knowledge. Worms can spread via email attachments. The worm scans the infected computer for files (address books, temporary webpages) that have e-mail addresses. It then uses those email addresses to send itself to other users by email, so it appears that the infected message are received from someone they know. Worms can also spread via vulnerabilities in the operating system.
Recommendations:
- Install or update used device protection systems;
- Scan your computer with an anti-virus program;
- Install operating system and application updates;
- Do not click on suspicious links in emails, SMS and websites;
- Disable unused plugins.
