Description:

Torpig is a botnet whose purpose is to steal personal and company data, especially those related to bank accounts and credit cards. At one point, Torpig was considered to be one of the most advanced pieces of code. It mainly targets Windows operating systems. Spread through systems that are infected with other malicious programs:

  • Mebroot rootkit;
  • Trojan horses.

Recommendations:

  • Verify that the device is not part of a botnet;
  • Install operating system and application updates.
